Crispy Brussel Sprouts
When I say I have tried everything to get my family to love brussel sprouts, I truly mean it. This recipe is the one way they are guaranteed to eat them and actually enjoy them! Honestly, the cooking method for these may seem like a bit too much effort for a brussel sprout, but I promise you it makes all the difference. Steaming them prior to roasting them makes them nice and soft on the inside, but still crispy and delicious on the outside! The perfect taste and texture for a brussel sprout in my opinion. If you want to elevate the flavour even more, drizzle on a little of my maple tahini sauce and I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
Ingredients:
3 cups brussle sprouts
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/4 tsp sea salt
optional: 1 tbsp maple tahini sauce
Instructions:
1. Cut the bottom stem bit off the brussel sprouts, slice them in half and pull off any outer leaves that are damaged.
2. In a steamer pot, add your water, place the brussel sprouts in the top basket, cover and cook on medium for 5-10 mins, or until brussel sprouts are soft when poked with a fork.
3. While the brussel sprouts are steaming, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pre heat the oven to 375F.
4. Once brussel sprouts are finished steaming, dump them onto the baking sheet, drizzle with the olive oil, and sprinkle on the sea salt.
5. Put them in the oven and bake for 20mins, until they begin to brown and crispy around the edges.
6. Take out, drizzle with maple tahini sauce if using, eat and enjoy!
