Hydration Helpers
One thing my clients commonly need some help with is getting in their daily water. Whether it is because they do not like the taste, feel like they do not have time or simply forget they struggle to meet their goals when it comes to water. Being well hydrated really makes a huge difference in how you feel, your energy levels and even how your body functions. Long story short, water is important and you should be drinking it! If you find yourself struggling to get it in daily adding in some frozen fruit or herbs is a great way to add a punch of flavour to your water to keep it interesting. Freezing the items ahead of time allows you to have a good stash on hand so you can grab a few and put them in a large water bottle and carry on with your day, plus you have the added benefit of them working as ice cubes to keep your water cool. I know this might seem like a super simple thing to do and really it is, but it does make a big impact when you have some hydration hurdles to conquer. Adding in some flavourful fun, and switching up your regular water once a day is a great way to get you to drink a little more and get you closer to your individual hydration goals!
Ingredients:
1 medium Cucumber
1/4 cup Mint
3tbsp Rosemary
1/4 cup Basil
1/4 cup Blackberries
1 Orange
1 Lime
1 Lemon
1/4 cup strawberries
1/4 cup blueberries
1/4 cup cranberries
Combinations:
Cucumber Mint
Blackberry Basil
Strawberry Lime
Orange Cranberry Rosemary
Blueberry Lemon
Instructions:
1. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper, and get out 2 ice cube trays (silicone works best).
2. Slice your lemon, lime and cucumber in rounds, lay them flat onto a baking sheet.
3. Cut your orange in half lengthwise, and then in half again lengthwise, then slice each section into small pieces (will make tiny triangles), and lay flat onto baking sheet.
4. Place your strawberries, blueberries, cranberries and blackberries on the baking sheet.
5. Chop up your basil, mint and rosemary (keep them separated. Place the herbs into the ice cube tray (mint in 8 cubes, basil in 8 cubes and rosemary in 8 cubes).
6. Fill the ice cube trays up with water and place them in the freezer along with the baking sheets containing the fruit and cucumber.
7. Once everything is completely frozen, take them out of the freezer, and place each group of items into individual bags, and put back into the freezer. This makes it super easy to grab a couple slice of fruit and a few herb ice cubes and pop them into your water bottle.
8. They will keep well in the freezer for 3 months, and you can use them to keep your water cool and tasty whenever you need. Enjoy!
