Onion Dip

Onion dip reminds me of my dad, honestly any dip does really, he loved a good dip for his veggies. Just like him I also love a good dip for veggies, and honestly as a nutritionist I use dips and sauces a lot to help ease exposure to different foods for kids and adults alike. One day we were watching a baseball game at home as a family and I had the urge to make a healthier alternative to an onion dip. I threw together this recipe and it defiently has become a favourite. I love that this one has some protein, healthy fats, and lots of flavour. It's also missing all the additives and fillers from a store bought kind, which makes my heart so happy! It's truly so easy to make, and stores well in the fridge for up to 5 days, which means that you can make it ahead for your next gathering!

Ingredients:
3/4 cup diced white onion
1 garlic clove - minced
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 cup plain greek yogurt
3 tbsp cream cheese
1 tsp coconut aminos
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions:
1. In a frying pan, put in the extra virgin olive oil, the diced onion, and minced garlic. Place on medium low heat and cook while stirring often, until the onions become translucent and slightly browned. About 8 mins.
2. In a medium mixing bowl, put in the greek yogurt, sea salt, coconut aminos, and oregano. Add in the cooked onions and stir well until all completely combined together.
3. Put the mixture in the fridge and let sit for a minimum of 1 hour. The longer it sits the better the flavour gets.
4. Serve with veggies, crackers, or chips. Enjoy!
